This Easter Sunday, our church family gathered to celebrate the greatest truth of our faith: Jesus is alive! Inspired by the choir’s powerful songs and anchored in Scripture, our sermon explored the hope of the empty tomb, the love of God’s gift, and the beauty of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Let’s dive into the message and discover how Easter calls us to live transformed lives.
The resurrection is the heartbeat of Easter. As the choir sang “Risen,” we were reminded of the moment Mary Magdalene arrived at the tomb, expecting death but finding life. Her despair turned to joy when Jesus called her name (John 20:16). The angel’s words in Matthew 28:5-6 echo through the ages:
“Fear not ye, for I know that ye seek Jesus which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.”
This truth changes everything. When life weighs us down—bills piling up, loneliness creeping in, or fear taking hold—the empty tomb declares that Jesus is alive, the champion over death. He’s with us, offering hope that transforms our darkest moments.
Action Step: Write down one burden you’re carrying. Beside it, write, “Jesus is alive, and He’s with me.” Keep this note visible today as a reminder of His presence.
Easter is about God’s unstoppable love. John 3:16 paints the picture: God gave His only Son because He loves you—yes, you, with all your doubts and struggles. Romans 5:8 adds:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
This love isn’t earned; it’s a gift. God didn’t wait for us to be perfect. He sent Jesus while we were broken, proving we’re worth it. Easter invites us to accept this gift and let it anchor us through life’s storms.
Action Step: Share God’s love today. Tell someone, “God loves you, and He gave Jesus for you,” or invite them to church to hear more.
The choir’s song “What He’s Done” called us to praise Jesus, the Lamb who became the victorious Lion (Revelation 5:12). Like the Apostle Paul, who went from persecuting Christians to praising Christ, we’re called to shout His worth every day. He’s not just worthy because He died and rose again—He’s worthy today, reigning and working in our lives.
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.”
Even when the world feels heavy, praising Jesus shifts our focus to His glory. He’s the one who did it all, and He’s still doing it today.
Action Step: Tomorrow morning, while brushing your teeth, say three times, “Jesus, You are worthy.” Write down one thing He’s done for you this week and thank Him.
The cross is beautiful because Jesus took our sins, shame, and guilt, setting us free. Imagine being sentenced to death, only to have someone take your place—that’s what Jesus did. Galatians 6:14 and 1 Peter 2:24 remind us:
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
The cross isn’t just a past event; it’s our daily freedom. When guilt or fear creeps in, Jesus says, “Peace I give unto you” (John 14:27). Our guilt is gone, our lives restored.
Action Step: Write, “The cross lifts my [guilt, fear, etc.].” Keep this note close. When you feel burdened, read it and thank Jesus for His sacrifice.
Easter isn’t just a day—it’s a call to action. Jesus commands us in Matthew 28:19-20 to share His hope, promising, “Lo, I am with you always.” Whether it’s a coworker’s complaint or a friend’s struggle, we can say, “I have hope because Jesus is alive.” Easter calls us to live as witnesses, praising a Savior who’s still working in our lives.
Action Step: Share your hope with someone today. Say, “I’m hopeful because Jesus is alive,” or share a moment when God helped you. Invite them to church or pray with them.
For those who haven’t accepted Christ, Easter is your moment. A simple prayer—acknowledging your need, believing Jesus died and rose for you, and accepting Him as Savior—can change everything. For believers, let’s live Easter every day. Share the hope, praise His name, and let the cross lift your burdens.
Let’s keep the truth of Easter alive: Jesus is risen, His love never fails, and His sacrifice sets us free. Share this message with your family and friends, and let’s live as people transformed by the empty tomb!
